Year 7s shine in Greek myths creativity project
FHS English department took part in the ‘Ovid in the West Country’ competition again this year. The competition is funded and run by Classics for All and the Bristol University Classics Hub. Fairfield Key Stage 3 students were firstly read Greek myths during library lessons, before being tasked to complete creative projects responding to the myths.
Our Fairfield ‘Merits’ were Imaan, 9N and Leila W, 7M. Our ‘Commended’ student, who won from the Fairfield entries, was Seth G, 7M.
Imaan produced a beautiful handmade ‘Pandora’s Box,’ with hand-made crochet symbols to symbolise the evils of the world, and of course finally hope.
Leila made a delicious ‘Icarus Cake,’ complete with a flying Icarus, sun, and blue icing for the sea.
Seth’s winning entry was again based on Pandora’s box, an interactive game produced on scratch.
All three entries received glowing feedback from the judges – well done from Team Fairfield.
