The Options Process

Welcome to the Year 9 options page. Students have had the opportunity to choose three subjects that will be studied for the next two years and possibly into Post 16 and university.

The Options Booklet 23-24 gives further information about the process and individual subjects.

Please note that the Remote Options Evening for Year 9 parents/guardians and students is on Wednesday 7th November, 5–5.30pm. More details to follow shortly.

Core Subjects

Each student will carry on studying the core curriculum which comprises of English, Mathematics and Science so that students leave school with good literacy, numeracy and scientific skills. To ensure the wider skills needed for adult life are covered in our curriculum, students will continue to study Physical Education, Citizenship (exam taken at the end of Year 11), Religious Education (exam taken at the end of Year 10) and Personal, Social & Health Education (PSHE). Most students will take at least 10 GCSEs, made up of core and options subjects.
