FAIRFIELD MOVING UP (Summer School) 2024
I have enjoyed getting to know the school building and staff that I will feel comfortable with in September. It’s been fun and we have been getting to know what it’s like at school step by step, and not thrown in the deep end.
I loved the vinyl disk painting. Summer School is so fun and you get to meet loads of people. If you are worried about making friends, it’s a great opportunity to get to know people.
Capture the flag was so fun! The teachers have been so nice at Fairfield, and I feel ready to come up in September. I like acting and singing, so I’m excited to try it out after doing dance at Summer School.
Summer School has been a great opportunity for students to bond and form friendships. We provide a variety of meaningful activities for students to engage with, proven to be a really positive foundation for the start of their academic journey with us.
Summer School is a great opportunity for students to interact with others that are taking the same big step as they move to secondary school.
Fairfield Summer School is a brilliant opportunity for our incoming Year 7 students to get to know Fairfield: the site, the staff, our ethos and – best of all – their new classmates! Students participate in workshops, games and activities designed to prepare them for success at secondary school. The end of day smiles are proof it’s a win-win option for a smoother transition.
I have enjoyed making new friends. The new subjects are so fun and it’s such a big school, so there is so much to do. I loved using the gym equipment and moving around the outside space which is so much bigger than my primary school.
During Summer School we’ve done multiple art graffiti lessons with a professional artist. He came and taught us about the art style and we got to paint a vinyl with our name and illustrations. It was great fun and it really showed everyone’s creative side.
In Summer School we drew our initials in spray paint style. I enjoyed this activity because it gave me chance to express my creativity within art.
In summer school my favourite lesson was dance, because we got to express our opinions without getting judged and that gave me a positive mindset for the year forward.
In Summer School, my favourite activity was Empire Boxing. First. we did simple exercises to warm ourselves up, such as skipping, stretching and star jumps. Then we partnered up to do a game focused on improving our reaction time and stance. It was very active and the teachers were very encouraging.
