Success from Day One
The move to secondary school means many changes for children so we make every effort to know and understand the needs of individuals to try to ensure a seamless transition. FHS is unique in offering a specialist Transition Team to help students make a positive transfer from primary school. Our Achievement Coordinator, Mr Donavan Shand, meets children in Year 6 and stays with them throughout Year 7.
Our work with future students continues all year. We run outreach activities with Year 4 & 5 children, and our renowned Magic Mornings give Year 5 & 6 students the opportunity to experience FHS for a day. Every child coming into our school is recognised as an individual. We want them to leave Year 7 as happy, successful and engaged young people – ready for the rest of their school careers.
We warmly welcome primary school students to join us for a Magic Morning between 9-11am. Primary students will meet Fairfield student volunteers, participate in two lessons with Fairfield teachers, and have the opportunity to ask questions. The aim of Magic Morning is to give young people a positive secondary school experience and is by no means a guarantee of a place at Fairfield.
Please note that the Magic Morning dates for this year are fully booked, however the 2022-23 dates will be posted here by Term 6 when online registration will also be available.
In light of not being able to invite prospective parents/carers or students into school, please see below videos and Zoom webinar recordings:
Thank you to all those prospective parents/carers who joined our live Zoom Open Event. The students and staff thoroughly enjoyed hosting it – we are delighted to share excerpts of this Question & Answer session plus videos to give a true flavour of the magic that is Fairfield.
