Welcome from the Principal, plus funding support plea for several exciting projects
Dear Families,
A warm welcome back. It’s hard to believe we’re already halfway through the first term, and what a fantastic start we’ve had. I hope your children are settling back into school life and making the most of the exciting activities we’ve had so far. There’s so much to celebrate, and I’m delighted to share some highlights with you.
We’ve loved welcoming Key Stage 2 families into our school for Magic Morning, as well as our Open Events. Our students were brilliant hosts, proudly showing prospective families what makes our school so special. A big thank you to everyone involved in making these events a success!
Our Year 11 Prefects have been shining this term, leading some fantastic assemblies. Mr Francis also delivered a powerful presentation to kick off our Black History Month celebrations, and our Heads of House have kept spirits high with their motivational assemblies around student leadership. The Head of House Assemblies saw our Student Council election start for the new academic year. It’s been wonderful to see the school coming together for these moments of reflection and celebration.
A special congratulations to our Eco Team, who spoke at City Hall on climate change as part of the Bristol Education Partnership. Their passion and commitment are truly inspiring, and we are so proud of their efforts to make a positive impact on our environment. And many thanks to Mr Walker for his ongoing work with this student group.
Our Key Stage 3 students, led by Edwina, have been working hard on the Community Kitchen Project. It’s been wonderful to see them get involved in such a meaningful initiative, learning new skills and we look forward to seeing the project develop across the year.
A huge thank you to Mrs. El Jarad, who organised a Macmillan Coffee Morning here at school. It was a lovely event that brought the community together and raised money for a great cause. We appreciate everyone who contributed.
Our Key Stage 3 thoroughly enjoyed their cultural trip to Barcelona. Meanwhile, our Year 10s and 11s have worked extremely hard for their mock exams – we know they will make themselves proud.
As we continue to improve our school environment, we are currently seeking support for several exciting projects. If anyone would like to donate towards any of the following, we’d be incredibly grateful, please email me directly [email protected] . Alternatively, you can get involved in our fundraising efforts through the Fairfield Parents Network —every bit of help makes a huge difference!
Here are the items we’re hoping to fund:
– Basketball Hoops for the Key Stage 4 Area (£1800-3600): Help us promote physical activity with new basketball hoops for our students.
– Washing Facilities for Prayer Club (£3000-6000): We’re aiming to provide our Prayer Club with dedicated washing facilities.
– Eco Team Balcony Garden (£200): Our Eco Team needs a little extra funding to continue their beautiful and sustainable garden space.
– Food for Culture Day (£200-500): Supporting our Culture Day by helping us provide a feast that celebrates the diverse backgrounds of our students.
– Prefect Sports Trophy (£100): Encouraging lunchtime sports with a trophy for our prefect-led competitions.
– Balloon Arch for Year 11 Prom: Let’s give our Year 11s an unforgettable prom with a stunning balloon arch to celebrate their achievements!
– Princess and the Hustler play books: Exploring the experiences of black people living in the UK through a beautifully crafted play
– Stitch It Club and Fix It Station – Purchasing sewing materials (£200): Offering FHS students and staff the materials and support to fix loved clothes and items.
Thank you for being part of this amazing term. We look forward to all the exciting things still to come.
