Successful Climate Justice workshop for Y9 Citizenship students
Year 9 Citizenship students have been participating in research, led by the University of York, about Climate Justice.
Students took part in a session focussed on how a Citizens’ Council could address the challenges of climate change while considering the needs of many different groups in society. Students used their advocacy skills in considering what justice looks like when there are competing needs and how we make decisions with complex consequences for society.
They also had the opportunity to share their understanding of climate justice and reflect on the session by completing surveys and participating in a focus group with the lead researcher from the University of York. For this, they offered valuable insight to the project from the perspective of young people, as responsible global citizens, which will guide future research in climate justice education.
Well done to all those involved.
