Shine a Light Performance at Trinity Academy
This term, Miss Thompson and Ms Cambanakis took the boys/them dance company and the Year 7 and 8 Generate Dance Company to the Shine A Light Performance at Trinity Academy. The event was run by RISE Youth Dance Company to showcase the passion and talent in dance across local schools in Bristol. RISE Youth Dance provides high quality dance training in an inclusive, nurturing and safe environment for all young people aged 4 -25 years in the Bristol area, because they believe in the power of dance to help young people become their best selves.
Our students loved the opportunity to perform on a different stage in front of other schools and the community.
“I joined the boys/them Blade Dance Company on the first rehearsal around 2 years ago. We started choreographing the Bangarang dance in hope of performing during Last Year’s Summer Gala but Covid hit again. This year we’ve had the addition of some amazing dancers, we picked our name and we held out hope of performance until last Friday when we finally had our first. We got there with all hope of brilliance, had our last rehearsal, were told our slot and we waited until, finally, it was our turn. We went on stage, heard the music and had the time of our lives. Blade Dance Company has been one of the most fun things I’ve been apart of in my whole school experience and I will never regret joining.” (Dylan)
“We did a dance called This Is Me and it was all about being you and not caring about what people think. We got to wear what made us our selves different to other people and what made us shine. It was fun getting to dance with other years and my friends, we spent so long perfecting the dance and I’m very proud on how it came out” (Jodyann)
