Science Update, including the success of award winning ‘Earthwise’
Science Update – Term 1
Year 11 have made a strong start this term, with many students attending intervention sessions aimed at improving their grades. Those invited have shown great dedication, and we encourage all parents and guardians to support their child’s attendance at these sessions, as they play a key role in helping students achieve their best possible outcomes.
In an exciting development, a group of Year 7 students will be heading to Space Camp at the University of Bristol, hosted by the National Space Academy, from 21st to 25th October. This thrilling event will provide students with the opportunity to participate in hands-on workshops, attend expert talks, and engage in interactive activities. We hope these experiences will not only equip them with valuable skills but also inspire them to pursue careers in science.
Our gardening club has been rebranded as Earthwise and earned two RHS awards last summer—a fantastic achievement! The club continues to thrive, with recent harvests including potatoes, marrows, carrots, and beetroots, and tomatoes still to come.
If your child is interested in joining Earthwise, it meets every Tuesday lunchtime in the polytunnel. Please encourage them to speak with Dr Ross for more information or email her directly.
