RESPECT Project with UWE has been taking strides
PSHE teachers at Fairfield conducted a lesson exploring the real-life experiences of young primary school children in Bristol with regards to racism. This work was constructed by the RESPECT Project research team and delivered to all Year 8 students.
The University of the West of England (UWE) researchers then came into school to discuss with a focus group of students about their views on the lesson, what should be kept, developed and how it should feed into the anti-racist work within the current scheme of learning.
The perspectives of Fairfield staff who delivered the work were also considered, with attention given to the ongoing projects and initiatives at the school. This is not a stand alone piece of work.
The RESPECT Project have been working with FHS students and staff since last year, with other Excalibur Bristol Schools (Redland Green School, Ashton Park School and May Park Primary) joining the project this year- the aim is to share research, capture the views and then create meaningful resources for all Excalibur Academies Trust schools to access as part of the equalities, equity, inclusion and belong strand.
