Performing Arts & English students mesmerised by Hamilton
The Performing Arts and English Department took over 50 students to see Hamilton at the Bristol Hippodrome at the beginning of May.
The plot is based on the life of Alexander Hamilton and has proved to be an explosively popular, critically acclaimed musical which marries hip-hop and Broadway in previously unimaginable methods. It has lifted Hamilton higher in the pantheon of the Founding Fathers, while humanizing him in touching and inspiring ways. It tells the story of flawed characters, each going through different paths but all of them seeking to leave their own mark and their legacy behind. “Hamilton” resonated years back with so many because it gave representation to people of colour, immigrants and women.
The students (and staff!) were absolutely blown away by the story telling, the choreography, costumes, set…we could go on! It proved to be incredibly inspiring for our students and everyone left the theatre absolutely buzzing.
Milah and Rosa said “Hamilton was a thrilling performance. The actors were phenomenal and inspired us all. It was overall a great experience.”
Edward said “it was a breath-taking performance performed by excellent actors. 100% recommend.”
We can’t wait to be able to offer more cross-curricular theatre trips to inspire our students in the future.
