Nature Pond: Plants/herbs needed & new beginnings spotted
We are pleased to announce that our Nature Pond has attracted its first breeding amphibians this spring. A population of 10 frogs have left as many clumps of spawn which are now developing into tadpoles.
The pond, which has been maturing since its renovation last year, will form a valuable learning resource for the science curriculum. The Science scheme covers a range of topics including adaptation, interdependence, and competition between organisms, Ecosystems and Biodiversity. All of which can be better understood with a bit of pond dipping!
To improve the ponds value to nature and increase biodiversity we are looking to add extra pond and marginal plants. Any donations of plants would be gratefully received. We would also welcome any herbs to plant around the pond and add to our allotments herb garden.
Plant donations can be left at reception for the attention of Mr Mears or questions emailed to: [email protected]
