Maths & Science Oxford University visit
On the 1st and 8th July, 60 Year 7 and 8 students went to Oxford University to see the world famous museums and participate in some exciting Maths and Science workshops.
Students learnt about the history of static electricity and got to see original antique experiments in action. Students got to explore the history of science museum and discover instruments that mapped the stars and helped early scientists explore the world.
After the History of Science museum we went to the Pitt Rivers Museum of Anthropology where students got to explore cultural artefacts from across the world throughout the centuries.
Finally we visited the Natural History Museum where we saw live insects, taxidermy mammals, touched authentic bear fur, studied fossils millions of years old and bronze casts of dinosaur skeletons.
For many of the students it was their first ever secondary school trip and they behaved themselves impeccably with members of the public commenting on how great they were. It was fantastic to see our Year 7s and 8s so excited about Maths, Science and Anthropology.
