Hinkley Point C & W-S-M Recycling Centre visits
Hinkley Point C
Year 9 students were given the opportunity to find out more about STEM careers with a visit to the first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years. The dedicated visitor centre showed the Maths behind the generation of electricity, followed by a guided tour of the construction site – where we also saw the largest crane in the world!

Water Recycling Centre
Year 8 students recently visited Weston-Super-Mare Water Recycling Centre. It was a chance to discover the Maths behind the treatment of wastewater and how it can be safely recycled back into the environment – most of our students were surprised by the sheer scale of it all and just how much maths is involved! A guided tour of the treatment process was followed by two different workshops, including one where students were required to put their problem-solving hats on to design their own system of water supply within budget.
