GCSE Poetry Live!
40 Year 11 students were lucky enough to have the opportunity to attend Poetry Live!, a day-long conference focused on the poetry element of GCSE English literature.
This year, the event was held in the newly reopened Bristol Beacon. Current Poet Laureate, Simon Armitage, was able to share his inspiration on what drives him to write poetry; previous Poet Laureate and national treasure, Carol Ann Duffy, also attended and was able to shed some inside light on hidden meanings in some of her most studied works.
Alongside performances and insights from a range of poets, there were also top exam tips and reflections on past papers from the chief AQA literature examiner. Pupils who attended found the trip useful for revision and it gave them a boost in confidence for the poetry element of their GCSE exam.
