Football Success
After a year of no Football fixtures due to Covid it has been amazing to be able to compete against our local Schools on the Football field once again, the boys P.E department have enjoyed a very successful Football season with some outstanding results and individual and team performances. Even during pre-season we were obtaining huge numbers at Football training of up to 40 students per year group, with such strength in depth we couldn’t wait to field our teams again.
Year 7
Enjoyed their first Football campaign representing Fairfield, they had some excellent performances in particularly beating Orchard 9-0 away as well as drawing with a strong Bristol Cathedral Choir School team 2-2 away. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough to make the quarter finals but the foundations of a great team are there for future years to come.
Year 8
Also enjoying their first season representing Fairfield have had a simply outstanding season, they have won all of their fixtures beating Bristol Cathedral 7-0, Redland Green 7-1, The City Academy 5-0 and Orchard 10-0. They won their group at a canter giving them a home quarter final which they won 10-0 vs Oasis Brightstowe. They now await their Semi Finalist opponents. In total they have scored a phenomenal 39 goals and only conceded 1! Keep going Year 8!
Year 9
Have had an excellent season in a very competitive group, they started their campaign with a hard fought 0-0 draw away to Bristol Cathedral School, were handed a walkover win vs City Academy who were unable to raise a team and battled to a 2-2 draw with Redland Green. They qualified from the group in second place and had the difficult task of taking on St Bedes who had won their group, away in the quarter final. After an outstanding team performance we unfortunately conceded a last minute equaliser to draw 3-3 meaning the match had to go straight to penalties. The lottery of the penalties didn’t go our way this time as we lost 5-3 and bowed out of this years competition. We have plenty to be proud of though and we will come back stronger next year.
Year 10
Unfortunately Year 10 have had a difficult and disrupted season, their season didn’t get off to the start we would have hoped, with a depleted squad we travelled to Bristol Cathedral and lost 1-0, were handed a walkover win vs The City Academy who were unable to raise a team and lost to a very strong Redland green team. Unfortunately they did not qualify for the Quarter finals this year but we will look forward to a strong final season in Year 11.
We will keep you posted on the progress of the Year 8 team as they make their march to the Bristol District Schools final.
