Fairfield working in partnership with Bristol WORKS to inspire future careers
Fairfield is excited to be working in partnership with Bristol WORKS this academic year. This partnership is bringing a host of employers into our school offering students the opportunity to participate in their interactive workshop, and to be inspired by their careers talks.
The first careers workshop was delivered by Alex, who works at Bristol City Council on the Mission Net Zero project to 25 Year 9 students. The students learnt about where the bulk of the UK’s renewable energy comes from (wind source) and the items in the house which uses the most energy (washing machine). They worked in small groups to create a structure that emitted the least heat.
The students also had to buy materials to support their structure, whilst remaining in budget, set at £100, plus had the opportunity to use a thermal camera as part of the project. Four groups managed scored temperatures between 27-24 degrees however, the winning group scored a temperature of 23.2 degrees!
Well done, Riyansh Max and Arthur.
Note: Bristol WORKS provides young people with fantastic experiences of work so they can make the best career choices. We bring employers and education providers together to inspire young people most at risk of being left behind.
