Bright Torches’ creative workshop supports understanding of ‘The Tempest’
On Friday 22nd November Tom Davey from Bright Torches ran a creative workshop for some Year 9 students to support their understand of ‘The Tempest’ which they are studying in English. The session focused on drama based activities to explore the emotions and impact of lines and phrases in the play on the characters and the audience exploring different ways to deliver the lines.
Tom Davey, Founder of Bright Torches comments: “It was wonderful to meet an enthusiastic group of Year 9 students at Fairfield! We worked on The Tempest exploring a scene between Prospero and Caliban using rehearsal-room strategies. I was really impressed by the groups’ energy, the students’ reflections on the play’s characters and themes and particularly by their ability to collaborate, share their ideas and work well together in small and larger groups. Thank you for having me Fairfield!“
Bright Torches ran workshops with our pupils in 2023 and we were pleased to welcome Tom and his brilliant workshop back to the building.
