Blunt Truth Workshop
In June, all of Year 9s participated in a workshop titled ‘The Blunt Truth’. The workshop aimed to encourage young people to report to the police, their school or through FEARLESS (the youth arm of CrimeStoppers) if they suspect that someone they know is carrying a knife or a weapon, in order to prevent assaults involving knives or weapons from ever taking place.
The workshop involved the showing of a film, made by young people, which depicts implied violence.
Following the showing of the film there were group discussions with students about knife crime and the film they have just seen, as well as information provided on how to report safely to the police, their school or through FEARLESS (CrimeStoppers) should they know someone is carrying a knife. Students also took part in a practical first aid lesson written by Accident and Emergency NHS staff on how to treat a bleeding victim, giving them real life, valuable first aid skills.
