Basketball news with impressive wins for the junior & senior teams
The Junior Basketball team (see pic) have had a fantastic start to the season, their first fixture of the season was against Cotham School at the FHS arena, Fairfield won this fixture by 100 points to 40 to secure their first win of the season. Next up were Bristol Cathedral Choir School, this game had to be shortened due to us having a double header fixture on the evening. Fairfield still managed to secure their second successive win with a 47-4 win to keep their momentum going. Next was Orchard on Wednesday 7th December, where the team won 77-38; finishing the group stage will be St Bedes away on Tuesday 13th December. Hopefully the team will be looking to secure top spot in the group to gain a home semi final.
The Senior Basketball team have found things a bit tougher with the standard of Basketball in the competitive league very high, they played Redland Green School in their first fixture and lost 30-60, their second fixture was against Cotham and was a much closer affair eventually losing by 14 points. Their first win of the season came against Bristol Cathedral Choir School and was a nail biting 30-29 win with Kai Wallace Gayle coming up with a clutch winner with 6 seconds on the clock. Another win was against Orchard School, where the score was 44-39; with just St Bedes to complete their season.
CONGRATULATIONS to all involved, especially Moss in Year 9 who currently represents Bristol Flyers Basketball and has made it through to the next stage of England Basketball trials. Moss is now putting in extra training before School to improve his game before the next round of trials.
