Another amazing year for the UKMT Maths Challenges
This has been another amazing year for the UKMT Maths challenges.
We started the year with the Maths Olympiad for Girls. Anna, Anya, Lucy and Ianthe did a great job. Ianthe received a Merit and Anya a Distinction… the first time in Fairfield!
Year 10 and 11 students undertook the Intermediate Maths Challenge at the End of January, impressing us with seven students being awarded a Gold Certificate and 53 students in total (64%) getting a bronze, silver or gold certificate. Isaac qualified for the Second Round, the Pink Kangaroo, well done!
The Junior Maths Challege was in April, and our Year 7 and 8 students achieving the best results we have ever seen. 61 students (58%) received a bronze, silver or gold certificate. Of those, five students reached the second phase, the Junior Kangaroo. Well done Noah, James, Huxley, Martha, Abdullah and Ysee. Special mention to Huxley who achieved a Merit at this competition, we are looking forward to future achievements in Maths.
Finally, our school participated in the annual Team Maths Challenge, which this year was at the end of April in QEH. Rudy, Sanvi, Angel and Jackson did the school very proud with their enthusiasm and academic performance in all the activities of the day.
In summary, another great year for the Maths Challenge students. Thanks all so much for your participation, engagement and hard work in these challenges.
