Ambassadors reach out to multilingual students
Sixteen students from across the school are now ambassadors for multilingual students at Fairfield after Mr Lewis awarded certificates and badges on Tuesday 19th May.
The students were selected for their caring, communicative natures and potential to reach out to students with other languages, not least because between them they are fluent in nine languages.
The team have already started coming up with ideas to improve how the school includes these students, including ideas for induction and making signage clearer.
Jo Hall-White, co-ordinator for students with EAL, said, “We are very proud that this team will have a real chance to change things for the better as they form a bridge between the two communities, while developing important skills for their futures.”
The team will meet monthly with Ms Nicola Yeeles, our LSA for students with English as an additional language, coordinating, and has begun with an initiative to survey multilingual students to gather data about how they feel about school life.
