A valuable chance to explore poetry in special workshop
Students from Years 9 and 10, plus the FHS Creative Writing club took part in two poetry workshops on 17th November and 1st December. Working with educational charity Steph’s Poetry Space, students wrote poetry in the first session, before making group poems to perform in the second session. Local poet and rapper Craft-D led the sessions. The charity Steph’s poetry space focuses on the benefits of poetry for teenagers’ mental health and well-being, and the workshop was very well received by students.
Mr Sinclair, Key Stage 3 Co-ordinator of English at Fairfield comments: “The students did us proud in these workshops. It was lovely to have the space to explore poetry, writing poems individually and in groups. A really valuable chance to practice performance skills too. Well done team!”
Student Eleanor adds: “I enjoyed being able to vent about my enemies by personifying them as sandwich fillings!”
