‘Surprise Me’ homework lived up to its name
We were absolutely blown away by the efforts of Year 7 with their “Surprise me” homework. Students were asked to spend time doing something that linked to German or Spanish. This could be to listen to a song and translate the lyrics, to watch a TV show or read a book and then write a summary, to research a native speaker and make a poster about them, or to find a recipe in German or Spanish and bake/make the item. The purpose of the homework was to encourage students to find out more about German and Spanish speaking countries and their culture.
Students then had to bring their homework, or a photo of it, and surprise Mrs Barnes. Lots of students chose to bake and luckily for Mrs Barnes, they brought in their tasty treats!
Mrs Barnes, Assistant Director Modern Foreign Languages comments: “Well done to 7M, 7P and 7R. They have worked very hard on their homework and many students said that this was the most enjoyable homework they’ve done. Apologies though to any parents and carers who were roped into helping with the baking!”
