Young Carers Enjoy Pizza-Making Workshop Thanks to Community Support
Young carers at Fairfield High School recently enjoyed a well deserved treat with a free pizza-making workshop, kindly provided by Pizzarova on Gloucester Road. During the two hour session, students thoroughly enjoyed learning new skills and, of course, tasting the pizzas they made themselves.
A huge thank you also to everyone who donated to the Young Carers Club appeal, organised by Fairfield’s governors, which raised a fantastic £440, which will be put towards other treats and activities next year.
Around five percent of Fairfield students are Young Carers. Many of these young people take on caring responsibilities at home, which can mean they miss out on social time and opportunities outside of school. Events such as this workshop give them the chance to relax, have fun and enjoy time together.
Amy Hornsby, Young Carer Support Worker and Teacher of Geography & History at Fairfield High School comments: “Thank you to not only Pizzarova, but Jess one of our Parent Governors, for making this special event happen and for all the hard work put into fundraising. We know our young carers had a truly memorable experience, and seeing their faces light up was priceless.”
