Year 7 Josh’s kick boxing success
Congratulations to Josh in Year 7 who is showing great talent in kickboxing, with 65 medals, four trophies and two plaques to his name, not to mention the opportunity to participate in competitions in charming countries such as Italy, Greece and Austria.
Starting at age 4, Josh uncovered his love for taekwondo before moving onto kickboxing, which he’s discovered is brilliant for endurance, speed and awareness.
Josh explains that it’s all to do with earning and building up points which, if enough, can lead to silverware. For those not in the know, different kinds of fighting leads to different points, for example a punch to the body is one point, kicks to the head or jumping kicks to the body two points and a jumping kick to the head is three. Minus points can also be awarded, however, or a disqualification for hurting someone on purpose.
Josh comments: “Kickboxing is really fun. I especially like going abroad and seeing the beautiful places I wouldn’t normally have the chance to see. I compete in competitions constantly and my ambition is to be a world champion like my coach.”
Congratulations to Josh from all of Team Fairfield.
