Year 10 Work Experience a huge success
For the large part of this academic year, our Year 10 students have been busy creating/updating their CVs and sourcing out a work placement for Term 6. At Fairfield, we highly value work experience as it allows our students to show off their amazing skillsets to future employers. And that is why, it was amazing to be able to send the majority (80%) of our Year 10 cohort out to experience the ‘World of Work’ last month.
Many of our staff members had the opportunity to visit or call to check in on our students whilst out on placement and the feedback sheets they returned with were fabulous to read. Here is a small snippet of the positivity:

‘Has shown initiative all week’
‘A lovely young person – their parents and school should be proud’
Since returning back to school, students have been busy filling in their logbook, recording their responsibilities/duties they had/demonstrated out on placement. Students have been reflecting on the enterprising skillsets they have developed whilst on placement.

- Time Management
- Confidence in ourselves
- Patience
An overwhelming amount of students stated they saw the value in work experience, with some highlighting the following as their best achievement for the week:
- Having close relationships with the children and that they trust me
- Been offered a music collaboration
- Creating a website for the company
- Being offered an apprenticeship for after Year 11
- Growing in confidence
For those students, who were unsuccessful in completing a face to face work experience, they spent some of the week completing Virtual Work Experience placements through an online platform called Springpod.
As we come to the end of the academic year, our Year 10s are one step closer to being out in the world of work and we couldn’t be more prouder of them!
Parents of current Year 9 = Work experience has been launched you your child through an assembly, and will take place in Term 6 (23-27th June 2025). Please have conversations surrounding around possible industry sectors they would like to work in. Paperwork will be sent out at the beginning of the new academic year
