The Principal’s lowdown on a wonderfully full and enriching term
As we approach the end of Term 5, I am delighted to reflect on a wonderfully full and enriching term here at school.
Our Future Brunel’s project continues to flourish, with the exciting selection process now underway for next year’s cohort. Meanwhile, the Earth Day Heroes trip offered students a fantastic opportunity to explore the passions of our Eco Team. Additionally, students benefited immensely from their creative workshop making costumes for St Paul’s Carnival with the St. Paul’s Carnival Education programme. Faith has also been a key theme this term, with a thought-provoking assembly led by Miss Campbell and Miss Greenwood, who shared powerful student reflections on how faith shapes their lives and identities.
GCSE exams have now begun, and we are immensely proud of the focus and determination shown by our Year 11 students and Year 10 RE students. It was a real joy to welcome families into the school for the Year 7 and 8 parent/carer evenings, as well as to celebrate our Year 11 leavers in a moving and memorable assembly.
Learning beyond the classroom has continued to thrive, with trips to Bletchley Park, the Roman Baths, and a Bushcraft experience for Year 7. Year 8 geographers undertook a river study, Year 10 photography students explored the beauty of the Botanical Gardens as part of their coursework, and a group of students enjoyed a spectacular performance of Chicago at the Bristol Hippodrome.
Our Year 6 visitors enjoyed their Magic Morning, getting a taste of life at secondary school, and the Student Council has been particularly active – not only preparing for our upcoming Culture Day, but also providing valuable input into how we communicate our expectations for next year, including our ‘no hands’, device-free approach and refreshed rewards system. Importantly, they have also been working on how we ensure every student knows who they can go to, and where to go, for support when needed.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
