STEM Experience Day ignited curiosity & creativity
Year 7 students had the incredible opportunity to attend a STEM Experience Day at the University of the West of England (UWE). The event was organised in partnership with Creative Tuition Collectives and was packed with exciting, hands-on STEM activities that ignited curiosity and creativity.
Throughout the day, students took part in a range of workshops that brought science, technology, engineering, and maths to life in fun and engaging ways:
Biomedical Science: What’s Hiding Under the Microscope?
Students explored the unseen world of cells and microorganisms, learning how scientists use microscopes to uncover vital information about health and disease.
Psychology: EEGs and Lie Detector Test
This session introduced students to how psychologists study the brain and behaviour. They experimented with EEG equipment and discovered how lie detector tests measure physical responses to questions.
Engineering: Prototype and Play Lab using Minecraft
In this creative engineering challenge, students used Minecraft to design and test prototypes—combining digital tools with real-world problem-solving skills in a fun and imaginative way.
Pizza Celebration Afternoon
The day ended on a high with a pizza celebration, giving students a chance to relax, reflect, and share their experiences with new friends.
Our Year 7 students were fully engaged and represented the school brilliantly throughout the day. It was a fantastic experience that gave them a glimpse into the exciting possibilities that STEM subjects offer, both in school and in future careers.
A big thank you to Creative Tuition Collectives, UWE, and all the facilitators for delivering such an inspiring and memorable day!
