Principal Ms Cronin rounds off another wonderful school year
Dear Parent and Carers
As we reach the end of another wonderful school year, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to students, parents, staff, and our wider community for your support in recent months This year has been a testament to our collective resilience, creativity, and commitment to excellence.
One of the standout successes this term has been our Year 10 Work Experience Week. I’m delighted to announce that we have been awarded the prestigious Gatsby Benchmark of 100%, a reflection of our outstanding careers provision.
Our focus on student safety and well-being remained paramount, highlighted by the impactful Child Criminal Exploitation Assemblies, which educated and empowered our students to stay safe and informed.
The culmination of years of hard work was evident during the GCSE exams. Our Year 11 and Year 10 RE students demonstrated remarkable determination and diligence, and we eagerly anticipate celebrating their results in August. Their journey was beautifully capped off with the Year 11 Prom, a night filled with joy, pride, and fond farewells.
Transitioning to a new chapter, our Year 6 Induction Day was a wonderful opportunity to welcome our new students. Their enthusiasm and curiosity were heartwarming, and we look forward to seeing them grow as part of the Fairfield family.
Our Student Council has been active and influential, leading to a significant policy change in our school uniform. Their dedication to student voice is commendable and reflective of our democratic values.
This year also saw the Year 8 Exmouth Trip and the Year 10 visit to St. Brendan’s, providing enriching experiences beyond the classroom. These trips, along with our Geography Field Trips, expanded our students’ horizons and deepened their understanding of the world around them.
We celebrated creativity and diversity through our Humanities Festival, Refugee Festival, and Culture Day, each event fostering a sense of community and inclusivity. Pride month was another highlight, celebrating the importance of celebration and acceptance within our school.
Our students showed exceptional community spirit, with Student Volunteers supporting local primary school sports days, and our own FHS Sports Days showcasing talent and sportsmanship. Congratulations to all participants!
The Bristol Educational Partnership’s Oracy Competition and the Fairfield Spelling Bee were platforms for our students to shine academically, demonstrating their impressive skills and knowledge.
Looking ahead, a letter from Mr Shand will be sent out at the end of this week with important information about the start of the new school term. Please keep an eye out for this communication.
Thank you once again for a remarkable year. I wish everyone a relaxing, joyful, and safe summer holiday. See you all in September, refreshed and ready for another great year at Fairfield High School!
