International Women’s Day at Fairfield
On Monday 13th March we had local artist and digital illustrator Abbi Bayliss (pictured below) in to do two creative workshops. Abbi left Fairfield in 2017 and has since had exhibitions in the South West, Wales and London. She has also worked with Banksy! As part of our month long celebrations of women, Abbi ran a workshop for Years 7 and 8 and a second workshop for Years 9 and 10. She explained her own career since leaving Fairfield, explored creative industries people can work in and discussed poetry, pitching and making ‘zines’ (miniature magazines which everyone got the opportunity to make their own!).

We were also fortunate to welcome Karen Self (pictured below) to lead a talk on her experience working as a Turbine Aerothermal Design Engineer for Rolls Royce.

In addition, we have given a special screening of ‘Little Women’, screened Modern Foreign Languages documentaries and held House assemblies.

Thank you to all those involved for helping to celebrate such an important day.
