Gold medals in national kickboxing tournaments for Y11 students
A huge well done to students Declan, Mika and Matthew in Year 11 whose skills in kickboxing saw them represent ‘Team Bristol’ by fighting against many top competitors from all over the country.
In the national kickboxing tournament in Windsor, Mika managed to win gold in his division of 13-16yrs (52kgs) and Declan and Matthew both beat all other competitors in their division before having to meet each other in the final. Declan just clinched the gold by one point, with Matthew getting a very well-deserved silver.
Matthew then went on to win a title fight for the overall Grand Champion in the 13-16yrs +52kg, which is a hard title to win.
The four boys all kickbox together for GB Fit (as part of Team Bristol). GB Fit is run by kickboxing and Kung Fu champions, who work with “people of all ages and all abilities to help improve their health, wellbeing and happiness.”
Sharon Gill, Head Coach and Instructor for the GB Fit Kickboxing Gym in Horfield comments: “All three fought amazingly and have come away with fantastic results. They should be very proud of their efforts, determination and skill within this sport.”
