From your FHS Governors
The “Academy Committee” for Fairfield High School is made up of governors who are parents, staff and members of the local community committed to the school’s success and Fairfield’s ethos and values.
You can find out more about our responsibilities and who we are here, but we’d like to take this opportunity to let you know more about our work with the school.
Twice a year we have an Academy Committee Visit Day during school hours. The latest of these was on Tuesday 3rd February during which we:
- Met with students from the school council to hear the student voice on the current Uniform Policy
- Met with four Young Carers, who described the ways in which the Young Carer’s club and school infrastructure supports them as well as hearing feedback from their club’s recent trip to Pizzarova for a pizza making workshop
- Shadowed members of staff during a wet and cold morning break, seeing behaviour management in action and observing calm, relaxed and respectful interactions between pupils as they enjoyed outdoor time, queued for break snacks and used the bathrooms.
It is always a privilege for us to hear directly from students who provide us with a fantastic insight into their experiences of Fairfield.
We will share more about our work in future newsletters including hearing from our “link governors” who work closely with leaders in areas where we have oversight, such as Safeguarding, SEND provision and Careers.
