Fairfield’s talented trio triumph again in the Regional Finals
Fairfield’s three geography superstars competed in the final round of the WorldWise Quiz, bringing another trophy back to Fairfield with them! As the winners of Bristol (see a write up of their fantastic achievements here) they were invited back to the University of Bristol, coming across fierce competition but winning against the winners of Gloucester GA as well as some runners up from the previous rounds too (six schools in total).
The students really shone in the OS maps round as Elliot was familiar with the area from using OS maps on his cycle rides. Parts of their GCSE rivers work appeared which they were able to excel in as well as identifying the symbol for NATO and recognising global cities just from images. They were commended for their impeccable politeness. What superstars!
Reuben shares an account from this special evening:
“We’re excited to share our recent win in the Bristol and Gloucester GA Worldwise Quiz! As a team we deciphered OS maps, identified geological formations and fought off fierce competition from across Bristol and Gloucester.
A huge thank you to the Bristol GA for hosting and organising such a competitive and enjoyable event and to the Gloucester GA who provided many of the questions. We would also like to give our sincere gratitude to our world-class Humanities department at Fairfield who supported us loyally throughout.
This win reflects the hard work and commitment of everyone involved and we are grateful for the opportunity to represent Fairfield and showcase our passion for Geography.”
