Fairfield pulls out the custard and splurge to present Bugsy Malone
Fairfield High School (FHS) delighted its audience with two evenings (and two separate casts) of musical comedy Bugsy Malone. Armed with custard instead of bullets, and plenty of splurge, the team seamlessly travelled back to 1920s New York to relive this timeless classic. The sell out evenings exuded swift scene changes, strong acting performances, well-choreographed dance routines plus many humorous moments.
For those not familiar, Bugsy Malone focuses on the disharmony and fighting between rival gangsters Fat Sam and Dandy Dan. Using the dreaded ‘splurge gun’, Dan uses this new and deadly weapon to his advantage. As custard pies fly, nice guy Bugsy Malone falls for Blousey Brown, a singer at Fat Sam’s speakeasy, but it isn’t an easy feat, as flirty Tallulah wants Bugsy for herself. The question is whether Bugsy gets what he wants, whilst helping fat Sam and fighting off the deadly Dan?!…
Natalie Thompson, Head of Performing Arts at Fairfield High School comments: “A massive thank you to our cast and crew for their professionalism and all around brilliance for taking Bugsy on with such gusto. We were honoured to have 150 members of the Fairfield Family wanting to take part this year, a new record! And finally a big thank you goes to all those who bought a ticket and helped Bugsy Malone come to life with their cheering and clapping.”
