Explore Architecture, Design & Placemaking – FREE Year-Long Programme

For those students interested in creativity and/or DT, then we are delighted to share details of a FREE opportunity to work at Design West, which is a venue for all things Architectual, Design and Creativity.

‘Shape My City’ brings a group of 15-18 year olds together from diverse backgrounds, for one year, to learn about cities, design and placemaking. The programme runs from October 2025 – July 2026.

WHAT DO YOU GET FROM THE PROGRAMME?

• Meet new people from diverse backgrounds within the city
• Learning about the range of career options available in the city design sector
• Develop teamwork, confidence, and communication skills, essential to the world of study and work
• Having an opinion and a voice about the built environment to shape their city
• Reflecting on their own life experiences and how that has shaped their understanding of the build environment to date
• Developing their knowledge and understanding of the place in which they live
• Using their learning and knowledge to help shape their city

Interested?

The course is FREE to enrol – in return you must stay dedicated to being part of the programme for the year and take your time when answering the questions on the application form as it is a very competitive process.

There are 10 modules and you will need to be available on the first Wednesday of the month from Oct 2025 – July 2026, 5-7pm. £5 will be provided for your travel and you evening meal on the day, if selected.
