Black History 365 – what did it mean to students?
The theme for Black History Month (BHM) in Fairfield High School was ‘Be Inspired‘ so we wanted to gather as many people as possible to come and inspire our students.
Lucy Turner, editor of Rife Magazine was one of our speakers. Within Lucy’s talk to year groups across Key Stage 3 and 4, she set our students a challenge; Black History 365 – what does it mean to them?
Students had the ability in and out of school to compile ideas, get creative and be inspired: some wrote poems, others created visual signifiers, some wrote speeches, others shared ideas about what they would like build into their curriculum and extra-curricular activities.
Here is a collection of work following our BHM challenge. Well done to all those who took part.
