Behaviour reminder – ‘No hands’ focus
Intent:
We are launching a clear ‘no hands’ expectation for all students.
This will ensure that all staff, whilst on duty or maneuvering around the building are using clear and concise language.
Therefore, students cannot misunderstand or not be sure what the expectation is.
Implementation:
If students are touching i.e., play fighting, gripping, grabbing or generally being physical with one another.
The response as a member of staff is: ‘no hands’ and then whatever explanation is warranted.
The ‘no hands’ acts as a Stage 1 warning – no bps and no EOD, this can also be a part of the explanation.
If students continue touching or not following instructions, then send to EOD.
Impact:
-Clear expectations regarding student behaviours.
-Establishing a better rapport between students and staff regarding behaviour standards.
-Less student to student contact.
-All expectations shared clearly with all students during assemblies, tutor time and in new starter interviews.
