Attendance Update for Term 3

If you know your child(ren) will be absent from school, please communicate this either via the Parentmail App or through the School Student Absence line (0117 952 7101). To ensure our school records are kept up to date in an accurate and timely manner, we must receive communication through these two methods. If you’d like to also inform your child’s Tutor/Achievement Co-ordinator of your child’s absence this is fine, but please inform them in addition to informing the expected school absence notification routes.
Students are expected to arrive at school for 08:40 each morning. If they arrive after 08:45, they will be recorded as late.
If your child arrives at school after 09:30 in the morning, without the school being informed by their parents/carers of the reasons for lateness; they will be recorded as having an unauthorised absence. This will affect their overall attendance marks and if lateness to school continues, this could result in the consideration of a fixed-penalty notice request to the Local Authority. Please use the Parentmail App or phone the School Student Absence line to confirm the reasons for lateness. If we do not receive communication from parents/carers of reasons for lateness, we will send a Parentmail communication to ask for clarification.
Please try and arrange medical appointments out of school hours. If this is not possible, please try and ensure your child either attends before the appointment or returns after the appointment. Full day medical absences will likely be followed up by the school to confirm authorisation of absence.
Thank you for your support.
