RE and History trip to the Imperial War Museum
As part of Year 9 students’ RE and History curriculum, we study the history of WW2 and the Holocaust and the impact this had on Jewish people and their religion. We took a group of 50 Year 9 students to the Holocaust Exhibition in London. During this day students were able to see the War Museum and specifically the Holocaust exhibition.
Students had a learning session followed by a guided tour of the exhibition using iPads. Students learned so much detail about what happened during the Holocaust through images, artefacts and testimonials; they also looked at the build up from WW1 to WW2 and specifically at the Nazi treatment of Jewish people. They were then able to discuss all of this with the leaders at the IWM and each other.
We were so impressed by our young people’s maturity and interest in the subject.
