Fairfield to Participate in Anti-Bullying Week
This year, Fairfield High School is proud to join Anti-Bullying Week, which will take place from November 11th to 15th. The theme for this year is “Choose Respect,” emphasising the importance of understanding bullying and how to respond effectively.
As part of our commitment to education, Year 7 students have been engaging with the topic of bullying through our PSHE program and drama classes. Throughout Anti-Bullying Week, tutors will deliver content focusing on issues such as social media, banter, and celebrating our unique identities. We believe that by respecting one another, we can create a more inclusive environment.
One of the highlights of the week will be Odd Socks Day on Tuesday, November 12th. We encourage all students to wear a pair of odd socks to celebrate our individuality and promote the message of uniqueness and tutor groups will create their own odd socks displays for their doors. Your support in encouraging your child to participate in this fun day is greatly appreciated!
Additionally, each tutor base will feature our child-friendly anti-bullying policy. The full policy can also be found on our school website. We invite parents to explore further resources available through the Anti-Bullying Alliance, which provides valuable advice and support for families. To quote Michelle Obama when speaking at the Democrat National Convention in 2016 about talking to her own children about bullying, she said “….when someone is cruel or acts like a bully, you don’t stoop to their level. No, our motto is, when they go low, we go high.” Let’s encourage all our pupils to choose respect and together, let’s make Fairfield a safe and respectful place for all!
If you have any concerns regarding bullying, please reach out to any member of our school community. We are committed to addressing your concerns through our Designated Safeguarding Leads, Jacob Francis and Donavan Shand, plus our Deputy Safeguarding Leads.
