Welcome to Term 3 from the Interim Principal

Dear Fairfield Families,

I am delighted to be writing the introduction to this newsletter after some time away from school due to personal circumstances. I have greatly missed being on site to see the wonderful activities the students have been involving themselves in. The school has been led admirably by Edel Cronin and I am extremely indebted to her, the rest of the Senior Team and the whole staff body for continuing to drive the school forward during my absence.

I am often asked what makes Fairfield such a special place. The answer is undoubtedly the care and support that we offer one another during difficult times. As you know, the school experienced unimaginable loss over the last few months and it has been humbling to see how well our students, staff and community have supported each other. You can see snippets of what it means to be part of the FHS community, captured in quotes, displayed outside main reception. Do look out for them when you next come to school.

I hope to see as many of you as possible over the coming months, be it at the school production of Bugsy Malone, one of our Parents’ Evenings or at some of the exciting community events we are hosting. Last week we were privileged to host the launch of Lit Legacies’ Project, a 6-week scheme of work  based on Chinonyerem Odimba’s play ‘Princess and the Hustler’. The evening was a wonderful celebration of Black British literature, cultures, and communities.
