Young Carers receive the day they deserve
On Wednesday 5th July some of Fairfield’s young carers attended an incredible event put on by the Young Carers Service, Creative Youth Network, Bristol Black Carers and Bristol Drugs Project. Young carers were invited from across Bristol to come and have some fun together. The event included:
- Taking part in health, wellbeing and arts-based activities, including graffiti, boxing and music
- Information and support stalls from local organisations
- Meeting other young people with caring responsibilities (all attendees had made new friends by the end of the day!)
We are delighted to say that the students’ feedback was really positive:
“I enjoyed the well-being session the most because I felt free to say how I felt and what I do, without people judging me”. Year 10 student
“I enjoyed it because it gave me a break from caring for others” Year 8 student
“I liked talking about my feelings” Year 9 student
Fairfield is committed to continue to ensure our young caring community makes use of these events. If you feel your young person is a young carer please contact Miss Hornsby [email protected]
