Mending Club has a far-reaching positive impact
Our students have had an amazing opportunity to participate in a lunchtime Mending Club – organised and ran by the dedicated team from UWE Peg Squires and Noah Wallace, in collaboration with Fairfield’s Ms Said.
The students learned different techniques for mending holes and sewing patches. As a result, they were able to apply their newfound skills whilst mending socks and patching jeans.
It was also very valuable discussing how mending has a positive impact on the environment and reduction of waste, plus health and wellbeing. This was demonstrated in the rating students gave at the beginning and end of each session.
The social aspect of the club (in addition to the practical skills) cannot be underestimated. Thank you to all involved.
