Fairfield celebrates prestigious CyberFirst Gold Award

Fairfield High School is proud to announce it has been awarded the prestigious CyberFirst Gold Award, recognising its outstanding commitment to computing, cyber security education and inspiring the next generation of digital professionals.

As part of the successful application, evidence was gathered from across the school, showcasing the computing curriculum from Key Stage 3 through to GCSE, employer and university partnerships, cyber competitions, workshops, careers events and Fairfield’s commitment to online safety and digital safeguarding.

The application also highlighted initiatives designed to encourage greater participation in computing, particularly among girls, including Code Divas, CyberFirst Girls and dedicated cyber careers events. Strong partnerships with organisations such as UWE, the University of Bristol, the Cyber Police Unit, employers and STEM Ambassadors further demonstrated the breadth of opportunities available to students.

Ayat Said, Director of Science & Computing at Fairfield High School explains further: “Receiving the CyberFirst Gold Award is a real honour. This achievement is a testament to the incredible work and dedication of everyone in our school. Every member of staff plays a part in creating the opportunities our young people deserve, and I feel incredibly privileged to work alongside such supportive colleagues.”

A representative from CyberFirst, who presented the award, praised the school’s achievement, explaining that there are currently more cyber security jobs available than there are people entering the profession. They described the Gold Award as a significant achievement, recognising exceptional teaching, strong careers provision and excellent links with universities.
