Celebrating Inclusion Through Art: Student Mural Project
Students from Years 7, 8, and 10 have been working on a powerful and creative project exploring the themes of inclusion, diversity, belonging, equality and equity through art.
In collaboration with Emily, our art teacher and practising artist, and Scott, a lecturer from Bath Spa University, students have taken part in workshops combining art and social science. Through discussions on identity, intersectionality, music, and self-expression, they developed ideas that reflect what these values mean to them personally and within our school community.
Students sketched their ideas, and Emily will now curate the final mural design using their contributions. Once complete, students will also have the opportunity to take part in painting the mural, which will be displayed in the 4th floor pastoral office. A photo of the finished artwork will also be placed in the 3rd floor pastoral office to share the message more widely.
This mural is a celebration of student voice, creativity, and the importance of building a community where everyone feels seen, heard and valued.
