Term 5 in Dance: Performances, Cultural Trips and Summer Fiesta pleas
April was a busy month for the Dance department with two dance companies performing at the city-wide dance event – Stages, and the GCSE dancers performing at Rise Youth Dance’s annual show, Reach, as invited guests.
Generate Dance Company performed two contrasting pieces; one lyrical about negative social media and pushing back against negativity, the other an upbeat 60’s /jazz inspired piece. Synergy was small but mighty, holding the stage like stars with their Carnival piece. Ms Cambanakis and Miss Thompson are so proud of the companies and all their hard work!
The department also enjoyed a GCSE dance trip to see Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake and this month are off to see Chicago! Providing opportunities for its students to perform and watch live dance gives such cultural enrichment and encourage everyone to get involved!
Any students wishing to find out more should talk to their Performing Arts and Music teachers about performing classwork or their own prepared pieces/acts in the popular and vibrant Summer Fiesta next term.
