Winter Gala
The Winter Gala was another amazing evening showcasing some of Fairfield’s Music, Dance and Drama talent. Students in music offered performances which ranged from Rock and Roll strutting, guitar driven Indie, captivating solo piano and confident singing – the students wowed the audience with their talent and confidence throughout the evening. In memory of our colleague and friend Vincent La Goascoz we were treated to some beautiful acapella singing and sublime instrumental music from a local Ceilidh band that he had been a part of.
In addition to this, the Year 11 GCSE dance class choreographed and performed a beautiful dance piece dedicated to his family with personal and poignant touches. These performances were warm and emotional and perfectly captured and articulated the spirit of the evening and of the Fairfield community.
Special moments were also created by Drama pieces developed by the performers and the student drama leaders inspired by Celtic folk tales giving the theme of a Celidh Christmas and a range of dance pieces from GCSE dancers, Generate and Synergy Dance Companies. The Dance department showcased work inspired by Carnival work from class, ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ and of course some traditional festive fun through dance pieces created by both staff and students – what a talented bunch!
It was an evening to remember that will live long in the memories of students, parents/carers and staff.
